Chipolo trackers are fantastic for helping you find your belongings, but we advise against using them to track your kids. Bluetooth trackers, like Chipolo, have some limitations that make them less suitable for this purpose.
For one, Bluetooth's range is typically limited to about 400 feet (120 meters). This means if your child wanders further away, the tracker might lose connection with your phone and you won't be able to see their location. Also, Bluetooth signals can be weakened by walls and buildings, causing delays in location updates and potentially causing unnecessary worry.
While some Chipolo trackers can leverage Apple's Find My or Google's Find My Device networks to extend their range, these networks still rely on the presence of other people's devices to relay the signal. In areas with fewer people, like remote locations, this might not be reliable enough for tracking your child.
For keeping your child safe, we suggest considering dedicated child safety wearables. These devices often use GPS for more accurate and wider-range tracking. They may also have additional features like two-way communication, SOS buttons, and geofencing, providing a more reliable way to keep your child safe.
