Please note that this article is relevant only for Chipolo models that work exclusively in the Chipolo app (Chipolo ONE, Chipolo Card (pre-2025), etc.).
We understand how frustrating it can be to misplace something important. However, if your item has Chipolo attached to it, Chipolo can help you find it. This guide will walk you through the different ways the Chipolo can help you.
When Your Item is Nearby (In Bluetooth Range)
If your Chipolo is close by, the app will show it as "Connected". Simply tap the green "Ring" button, and your Chipolo will play a loud sound to help you locate it by sound.
When You're Out of Range (Using Last Known Location)
If the app shows your Chipolo as "Disconnected," don't worry. The app will display a map showing the last known location and the time tag, so you can see where and when your Chipolo was last seen.
We recommend you go back to that location with the Chipolo app open on your phone. As you get within Bluetooth range, the status will change to "Connecting." Once it fully reconnects, the button will turn green, and you can tap "Ring" to find it.
Helpful Tip: Sometimes, restarting your phone before you start searching can help refresh the Bluetooth connection.
When Your Item is Truly Lost (Using Mark as Lost)
If you can't find your item at its last known location, the next step is to use our Mark as Lost feature. This activates the power of our entire Chipolo community to help you search. Once activated, you will receive a notification and an email with the new location if another Chipolo app user passes by your lost item.
This entire process is completely anonymous and secure. The person who helps find your item will never know they did, and only you will be notified of its location. For your privacy, even our support team cannot see your Chipolo's location.
We hope this guide helps you find your item quickly.
