Chipolos have an option to relay the information about their last known location to the owner remotely. Depending on the model, Chipolo, Google or Apple network is used for this.
This means that if the Chipolo you have found is still active, the owner can still see the last known location for it. The best course of action is to take the found item and Chipolo to a local Police station (or a similar public building), so the owner can easily retrieve it.
