In the Chipolo app you can share your Chipolo or device (your smartphone that runs the Chipolo app) with family or friends.
Using this feature allows you to track an item that is used by different people and find or see your device from your friend or family's device.
Visit our 'How To Share Your Chipolo' article for more information about Chipolo's free sharing feature and how to use it.
What does it mean for my privacy?
When sharing a device or Chipolo, all people it is shared with may be able to see who else it is shared to. This means you have a quick overview on who may be able to see your location. If you don't feel comfortable with this, you can stop sharing your device or Chipolo, or remove a device or Chipolo that was shared to you.
See our 'How To Share Your Chipolo' to learn how to stop sharing or stop using a shared item.
To quickly identify a Chipolo or device that is shared, a small 'sharing' icon is shown on the item in the list view of the Chipolo app.
Sharing or using a shared Chipolo.
With a shared Chipolo, all users that it's shared to will be able to connect with it and ring it. However, only one device can connect to a Chipolo at the same time.
Additionally, users will be able to see the Chipolo's location and mark it as lost when no user is currently connected to it.
In order to know where and with whom your (shared) Chipolo currently is, all users the Chipolo is shared to will be able to see who the Chipolo is currently connected with. This means that they are able to see your location as well, because you are with the Chipolo.
