The Apple Find My app offers two different ways to be notified of your Chipolo's location when it is not with you. These features can only be activated when your Chipolo is not detected in your device's Bluetooth range.
- "Notify when found" - notifications
- This will simply push a notification to your device(s) with an updated location when it's spotted by an Apple Find My enabled device.
- "Lost Mode"
- When you have really lost your item, and you want to share your contact information and a message with whoever finds it in order to have it returned to you.
Enabling "Notify when found"
If you are not sure where your Chipolo is located and it is not within range of your device, you can enable notifications to be sent to your device if it is spotted by another Find My enabled device. This may give you a quick update on the item’s current location.
- In the Find My app select items tab and tap on your Chipolo.
- Under "Notifications", enable the "Notify When Found" toggle.
- You will receive a notification with an updated location when your Chipolo is seen by a Find My enabled device.
Enabling "Lost Mode"
In addition to being notified when your item was spotted by another Find My enabled device, you can also set a message that would be shown to the person who finds your item with your phone number or email address. You do this by enabling "Lost mode".
- In the Find My app select items tab and tap on your Chipolo.
- Under "Lost Item", tap "Show Contact Info".
- A screen with a description of Lost Mode will open. Tap "Continue".
- Enter your phone number and tap "Next" to continue. Alternatively, you may choose to be contacted via email. Tap "Use an email address" to do so.
- You may now enter a message that will be shared with the finder of your item, or use the default one. By default, "Notify when Found" will be enabled as well. You can choose to disable it by tapping the toggle. Finally, tap "Show Information" to enable "Lost Mode".
- In addition to seeing "Lost Mode" activated in the item's details overview, a "?" icon will be shown on your item in the Items overview tab.
If you'd like to get help finding your lost item, you can share the item's location with an airline or a trusted person. Under "Lost Item", tap on "Share Item Location", click on "Continue", and share the link.
