What is Voice Control?
You can control certain Chipolo actions using your voice in combination with Google Assistant, Siri or Amazon Alexa. Voice Control allows you to simply ask your preferred assistant about where your Chipolos or Device are and to ring them if needed. All handsfree: you can check up on your belongings without even having to check your phone.
Before you can use Chipolo Voice Control with your preferred assistant it is required to have an account set up on your assistant, you then link this with your Chipolo account.
Note:
Due to limitations from iOS 12 onward it is temporarily not possible to ring your iOS device using Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or through our web app when your phone is set to 'Silent'. However, your device will still ring when it is not set to 'silent'.
We are working to resolve this. Ringing your Chipolos using your Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa is not affected.

Awesome! Which commands should I use?
Chipolo Voice Control supports different kinds of commands and questions that allow you to check up on your belongings.
First, start the conversation with your assistant.
To start a conversation with Google Assistant, you simply say: 'Hey Google', followed by what you would like to do.
For Amazon Alexa the default trigger is 'Alexa', followed by what you would like to do. Keep in mind that Alexa supports setting your custom trigger phrases, so if you have a different trigger set up you should use that.
Second, ask Chipolo to help you.
Amazon Alexa
After starting a conversation with Alexa, you can ask it which of your belongings you are looking for.
Voice Control understands which Chipolo you are referring to based on:
- Chipolo name;
- Chipolo tag.
If you use different characters, like emoji, in your Chipolo names, Voice Control will not take these into account. It will then simply identify it by its tag or color.
To ring your Chipolos or device using Amazon Alexa:
- Ask Chipolo to ring my phone (or device, mobile phone, cell phone etc.)
- Ask Chipolo to ring my wallet.
- Ask Chipolo to find my keys.
To find out what the last known location of your Chipolos or device is using Amazon Alexa:
- Ask Chipolo where my laptop is.
- Ask Chipolo where I left my phone.
- Ask Chipolo where car keys are.
Google Assistant
After starting a conversation with Google Assistant through your phone or Google Home device, you can simply ask to find your belongings by their name. The names of your Chipolos can be changed in the Chipolo app.
If you use different characters, like emoji, in your Chipolo names, Voice Control may not recognize them correctly.
To ring your Chipolos you simply tell Google Assistant to find it for you. For example:
- Find my Wallet.
- Where are my Car Keys?
- Where is my Laptop?
The Chipolo you're looking for will start ringing if it's connected to your phone.
Google Assistant will also stop ringing your belongings when you let it know you found it:
- I found my Wallet.
- Stop looking for my Car Keys.
- Stop ringing my Laptop.
Third, success!
As an example, we will ask both assistants where we left our house keys.
If your house keys are with you, but they somehow hid where you don't see them, you can ask Chipolo to ring them:
- Hey Google, find my house keys.
- Alexa, ask Chipolo to find my house keys.
As long as your Chipolo is connected to your device, it will start ringing. In case it is not connected, Chipolo will inform you about this as well.
Additionally, we can ask Amazon Alexa where our belonging was seen last. Did I leave my keys in the car, or have I left them in the office (again!?):
- Alexa, ask Chipolo where my house keys are.
The assistants will tell you the last known location of your house keys, so you no longer have to worry about it.
Limitations
Current limitations for voice control:
- Voice Control supports the English language only.
- For now, to be able to use Chipolo Voice Control your mobile device with the Assistant apps should be set to the English language, your Assistant should be set to talk in English as well.
- You can not use Voice Control to find or ring a device or Chipolo that has been shared with you.
